The Company

Highland Pine Products (HPP) is a 50:50 Joint Venture between AKD and Pentarch Forestry.

The original Boral Sawmill was commissioned in 1941. CSR expanded its operations in Oberon in 1995 and as part of that expansion built the CSR Sawmill on Albion Street. In March 2000 Carter Holt Harvey purchased the sawmill along with other sections of the CSR site in Oberon and in July 2000 the joint venture was formed between Carter Holt Harvey and Boral. In 2018 AKD bought Carter Holt Harvey share of HPP and new JV was formed between Boral and AKD. In 2021, Pentarch Forestry purchased Boral’s share of HPP, joining AKD in the joint venture arrangement.

In 2018 HPP processed 600,000 m3 of sawlog, That is about 1.5 million logs per year. Most sawlogs are from the NSW State Forests and grown on a sustainable basis. The log yard has the capacity to hold 12,000m3 of logs, which is the equivalent of 4 full day’s production.

Oberon NSW

at 1,113 metres, Oberon is the highest town in the Blue Mountains enjoying four distinct seasons including perfect summers and intermittent snow falls in the winter.

We are a friendly, caring rural community with a thriving economy. Our main industries are timber, tourism and innovative farming providing a stable employment base for our town.

Oberon’s country lifestyle, clean air, sparse traffic, crisp alpine climate, friendly people, sense of community, safe environment and some of the most spectacular scenery in NSW makes it a great place to live and work.
